Back deck and patio landscape renovation in Louisville, KY

September 8, 2025

Our team recently had the pleasure of working with a homeowner in the Glenmary area of Louisville, KY who wanted to refresh and elevate the landscaping around their back deck and patio.

We began by removing overgrown shrubs and aging timber borders beneath the deck. In their place, we installed Bedford Tumbled blocks, creating clean, durable edging from the curbing to the sidewalk and at the base of the steps.

We planted a mix of vibrant shrubs including Summer Crush Hydrangeas, Endless Summer Hydrangeas, and Purple Palace Coral Bells to add vibrant color through summer and fall. Once the new plantings were in place, we finished the space with a layer of fresh Solite gravel, giving the landscape beds a crisp, polished look.

The transformation not only refreshed the area but also enhanced the overall beauty of the deck and patio, creating a welcoming outdoor space the homeowner can enjoy for years to come.

At WLS, we believe every home deserves to shine and the landscape is an integral part of showcasing your home's natural beauty. Recently, we worked on a property for our long-time customer in Highview, KY where the front shrubs and trees had become overgrown and were hiding the home’s features. The challenge for this particular property included overgrown shrubs blocking walkways and windows, extra foliage crowding the foundation beds, and a general need for reshaping and refreshing the landscape.

Our customer in the Highview area called to get the shrubs around their home trimmed. We trimmed and shaped the hedges in the front of the house below the window sill which maximized the amount of natural sunlight being let into the home. This is especially important during the cooler weather to allow maximum airflow when the windows are open and naturally provide heat to the home's interior.
